PPJ — Pin-type Pile Joint
Tests and Documentation
Summary of the testresults of the Pin-type PileJoint (PPJ)

Mechanical Testing
Experimental assessment of the load-bearing capacity of specimens incorporating Pin-type Pile Joint.
Conclusion: Based on the overall test results, the pin-type joint can be considered to have strength equivalent to that of the reinforced concrete pile body under compressive, shear, bending and tensile loads.

Corrosion Testing
Test specimens consisting of concrete piles with PPJ were exposed to an environment corresponding to a highly aggressive environment as defined in Table X5 of Russian Code SP 28.13330.2017.

Conclusion: Based on the overall results of tests lasting 6,480 hours (270 days), the PPJ can be considered suitable for connecting precast reinforced concrete piles exposed to highly aggressive soil and groundwater environments, assuming a design service life of 50 years for the structure being built.

The PPJ has undergone mechanical strength and corrosion resistance testing in the laboratories of the Research Institute of Concrete and Reinforced Concrete named after A. A. Gvozdev (NIIZhB) and Tomsk State University of Architecture and Building.

Compliance with Russian Standards
The PPJ product has been developed in accordance with the requirements of Russian regulatory documentation:
SP 63.13330.2018 — Concrete and Reinforced Concrete Structures
Basic provisionsofSNiP 52-01-2003.
  • Minimum clear distance between the reinforcing bar anchor of the embedded component and the pile's longitudinal reinforcement to ensure composite action between the reinforcement and concrete (Clause 10.3.5), while meeting the requirements for the minimum concrete cover over the pile's main reinforcement
  • Anchorage length of the reinforcing bars in the embedded component (Clause 10.3.25).
SP 28.13330.2017 — Protection of Building Structures Against Corrosion
Updated version of SNiP 2.03.11-85.
- Minimum thickness of the steel elements forming the box of the embedded component (Clause 5.5.9).
Conclusion issued by the Federal Autonomous Institution “Federal Center for Standardization and Technical Assessment in Construction” (FAU FCS) confirming the suitability of the PPJ technology for use in construction.
The PPJ technology is protected by Russian patents
